Interstate Shoot Melbourne 2015
The 7th of june 2015 saw the Australian Hellenic Sporting Clay Challenge take part in Melbourne
I would would like to thank the committee and members of the Australian Hellenic Game & Conservation Office of Victoria for hosting this event and all the efforts of all the helpers and volunteers that helped put this day together, the event was enjoyed by all despite the wind which was a feature of the day.
Also a big well done to the Australian Hellenic Game & Conservation Office of Victoria for supporting our sport who also used this event as a come and try day, and had the local greek radio station 3XY on site with live broadcasts from the ground, thoughout the entire day.
I would also thank all the members from all clubs for taking the time and effort to make the trip over to the event, I know that all from SA had a great time with not only members from our own club but with our friends from interstate also, at the grounds and the dinner, with many shared laughs and some new stories.
The morning saw us arrive to supplied breakfast at the grounds, and the wind was soon a major talking point, the day saw strong and gusty winds ranging thoughout the day and going on the bureau of meteorology web site the winds ranges where 30-40 Khm with recorded gust in the 50-55+ range and a top of 63Khm what can I say other then it was windy, but these very strong winds made for some very tricky shooting conditions.
After the 50 targets were complete and a great lunch was underway the score board showed just what havoc the winds were playing on the shooters scores, and that the event was still open to any team or any shooter to still take the day, the second 50 target scores where kept aside and not displayed on the score board and remained unknown to the shooters, to be announced at the dinner dance. With the shoot running well depite the wind and the cold trying to slowing us down, there was a good finsh time that allow some time to break and recover from the day back at the hotel before the dinner, the dinner event was fantastic with a great venue, great food and great friends., Thank you to our melbourne sister club for putting on a great event.
After some great courses at the dinner and some formalities by the presidents the now long wait to find the winners had finally arrived, and I am happy to say that our SA Team while just falling short of taking the team event saw our shooters do us proud, across all the grades.
